How to Use Vellum Paper in Your Projects:
Overlays (The Soft Focus): place a printed vellum sheet over a photo or a busy background paper to tone it down and add depth. Because the vellum is translucent, the layer underneath still shows through with a dreamy, “frosted” finish.
Pockets, Envelopes & Windows: at 102 gsm our vellum folds and scores cleanly. Cut it into translucent envelopes, tuck-spots, belly bands and tags, or use it as a “window” that reveals a hidden ephemera treasure.
Invitations, Cards & Save-the-Dates: wrap an invitation in a printed vellum jacket, or layer a vellum panel over a coloured cardstock for an elegant, modern look.
Print Your Own (The Blank Sheet): the blank vellum sheet works with both laser and inkjet printers.
Laser printer: print and use the sheet straight away.
Inkjet printer: let the print dry, then seal it with a fixative spray (or a clear acrylic sealer) so the ink does not smudge when you glue, stamp or handle the sheet.
Gluing without marks: liquid glue shows through vellum. Use a vellum adhesive or double-sided tape only where an embellishment will cover it, or attach the sheet with brads, eyelets, stitching or washi tape.

What is vellum paper?
Vellum paper is a lightweight, translucent paper with a smooth, delicate finish. Originally the name referred to fine calfskin parchment used for manuscripts; today “vellum” describes a translucent paper made from plant fibres that diffuses light softly, so whatever sits underneath shows through with a gentle, frosted look. Our printed vellum is a genuine 102 gsm paper vellum, not a plastic film.
What is vellum paper used for?
Crafters use vellum for overlays on photographs and background papers, translucent envelopes and pockets, journal windows, tags and belly bands, and for elegant wedding invitations and save-the-dates. Because it is semi-transparent, vellum adds depth to a layout without hiding what is beneath it. Printed vellum adds a coordinated design to the layer instead of leaving it plain.
Is vellum paper the same as tracing paper?
They look similar but they are not the same. Tracing paper is thin, glassy and made to trace lines; it wrinkles easily and tears when folded. Vellum paper is heavier (ours is 102 gsm), has a smooth matte surface, folds and scores cleanly, and takes print and ink much better. For scrapbooking, journaling and invitations, vellum is the right choice.
Can I print on the blank vellum sheet at home?
Yes. The blank sheet in every pack works with both laser and inkjet printers. With a laser printer you can print and use the sheet immediately. With an inkjet printer let the print dry completely, then apply a fixative spray or a clear acrylic sealer so the ink does not smear when you glue, stamp or handle the sheet. Use the “transparency” or “thick paper” setting if your printer has one, and feed one sheet at a time.
How do I glue vellum without the adhesive showing?
Because vellum is translucent, liquid glue is visible underneath. Use a vellum-specific adhesive or a thin double-sided tape only where an embellishment, a photo corner or a strip of washi tape will cover it. Alternatively attach vellum with brads, eyelets, staples, stitching or a decorative clip – they look intentional and add texture to the page.
What size and weight are the sheets?
Every sheet is A4 (21 × 29.7 cm, about 8.3 × 11.7 inches) and weighs 102 gsm. Each pack contains 10 sheets: 9 printed designs plus 1 blank printable sheet.
Does the printed vellum match your Junk Journal Kits and rice papers?
Yes. Our collections – such as Vintage Birds and Steampunk Age – are designed as families: the Junk Journal Kit, the printed vellum pack and the decoupage rice papers of the same name share the same artwork and colour palette, so everything coordinates.
Can I fold, cut and stitch vellum paper?
Absolutely. At 102 gsm our vellum scores and folds cleanly, cuts with scissors, craft knives and die-cutting machines, and can be sewn by hand or machine. Score the fold line first with a bone folder for a crisp edge and to avoid white crease marks.
Is vellum paper suitable for decoupage?
Vellum is not a decoupage paper like rice paper: it is thicker and does not “melt” into the surface. It works beautifully, however, as a top layer in mixed-media and journal pages, as a translucent panel on boxes and frames, and for lampshades and luminaries where light passes through. For decoupage on furniture and objects, choose our rice paper collections instead.
Is vellum paper acid-free and archival-safe?
Our papers are made to protect your memories: the vellum is acid-free, so it will not yellow your photographs or damage the pages it touches over time. Store your finished journals away from direct sunlight and humidity for the longest life.
