Rice Paper: MAPS. Large format

The explorer’s cabin in full scale: antique world maps printed as single large sheets in A0, A1 and A2, ready to cover a desktop or a cabinet door edge to edge. Double-hemisphere maps in the style of the great seventeenth-century cartographers unfold with allegorical borders and decorated corners, from parchment golds to pale engraved versions and a Victorian pictorial map crowded with costumes and ships. Nautical charts carry tall ships and compass roses, and still lifes of brass compasses, spyglasses, quills and magnifying lenses complete the voyage. The palette stays in warm sepias and parchment tones, ideal for studies, desks and masculine pieces. Apply the rice paper to a tabletop, a trunk lid, a door panel or a canvas and one sheet turns the surface into a captain’s chart table, with that aged, hand-drawn character only rice paper can give.
